Rewind In Style : A Tribute to Edith Massey

                                     I know many of you may think this is a picture of the Virgin Mary herself or maybe even the long sought after photo of Zenaida Gonzalez a.k.a Zanny The Nanny. No my babies , it is none other then the unrivaled queen of  70's pop culture and goddess of underground cinema Edith Massey. In what I hope to become a weekly column on stars of yesteryear that are sadly no longer with us , we will take a look at the fabulous life of a true icon , Ms. Edith Massey . Enjoy !

               Edith Massey's early years are a bit sketchy, poor thing . Born in 1918 in either San Francisco or New York , she was soon placed in Dickensian orphanage near Denver , Co.  Poor little Edith was soon sent off at the tender age of 15 to work as a maid , she soon ran away and was placed in a girl's reformatory. Amidst all this chaos Edith dreamed of a career in the Hollywood industry which eventually sent her once again on the run , this time to California . Edith Claims to have made her film debut in the 1940 romance Arise, My Love ( starring Claudette Colbert ).

               Over the next 30 years Edith bounced around doing everything under the sun to stay afloat in the world , everything from tap dancer in a seedy burlesque club to madam at a whorehouse. Eventually Edith came upon the trashy Fells Point waterfront district in Baltimore , Maryland , working as a barmaid at a local tavern. Eddy's constant jabber and oddball conversations eventually caught the eye of a young John Waters. Waters was instantly hooked on Edith's character and asked her to play herself in as well as the Virgin Mary in his landmark trash epic Multiple Maniacs.

                  Edith became a regular in the underground film scene playing such memorable characters as " The Egg Lady " in Pink Flamingos , " Queen Carlotta " in Desperate Living , and of course " Aunt Ida " in Water's seminal classic Female Trouble. Edith became an iconic figure in the " midnight " movie circuit and even enjoyed a brief singing career  doing covers of such iconic songs such as " Fever" and " Big Girls Don't Cry", the latter of which can be found on World's Worst Records Vol. 1 ( released 1983).  Edith also appeared in a  documentary about her life in 1972 titled " Love Letters to Edie " and later  and more in depth in " Edith's Shopping Bag" .  Soon after making it big our lovely lady was discovered by none other then John Cougar  Mellencamp and featured as his dream girl in his 1981 video " This Time " , as well as a role in the 1984 sci -fi chessefest " Mutants In Paradise".

             John Water's himself has stated that Edith was a character all of her own. John Says " When the reviews for polyester came out one stated that Edith either deserved an Academy Award or a 24hr nurse...."  to which she replied " ..... I'd Like both ".  It has also been said that when Edith eventually lost all of her teeth that she had dentures custom made with her trademark gap in place. A true " star " to the very end the world lost Edith Massey in 1984 due to complications to cancer and diabetes. You will be missed my love, you will be missed. Cum INSIDE THE WHORE in new Norwegian horror film

 The Sequel to the 2009 Norwegian Film Hora ( a.k.a The Whore ) has been released abroad. Here is a sassy new teaser poster to hold over any of you sick fucks that may have a yurning for some good ole fashion exploitation. The original film follows Rikki who is hard at work on her new novel deep in the Norwegian countryside when she is attacked and brutally raped by 3 local men. The original is a grim film indeed and upon its initial screening at the Minneapolis Underground Film Festival a secret screening had to be organized instead.

The Sequel ( which is actually more of a prequel ) follows director Reinert Kill ( who plays himself ) as he films the original film and the mysterious things that plague the cast of the production.

Offical Synopsis:
During the shooting of the sequel to Reinert Kiil's feature film Hora, aka The Whore, a lot of mysterious things happened on the set.

While shooting the sequel to The Whore, director Reinert Kiil and his director of photography join forces in an effort to make the ugliest and most grotesque film ever made. During production outside Kvam in Bergen, the crew and actors notice that there is something weird and strange going on when friends and colleagues begin to die in brutal ways. The question is whether it is the Whore who has come to life looking for revenge or whether it's actually the director who gets his dream come true about making the most horrible movie ever.

I love movies about RAPE. Day 3 Gutterballs review

When I was about 11 years old I was walking down the street to buy my father a pint of Old Crow Whiskey so he could relax after work, alone I may add. At that age I had only given a few hand jobs to my father's co-workers , so I was very naive in the ways of men and their carnal desires. That night , everything changed. I was ambushed from behind by a middle aged man and forced to " take it like a doggy " for several hours. Needless to say , the act itself was humiliating , degrading , and rough as fuck. I loved it , every lurid minute of it left my body hot and breathless for more. A love for rape and the act of humiliation was born. No more hand jobs for Bernie and the boy's after school. I was a woman obsessed.

Over the past several years horror movie aficionados , and gore hounds alike , have been treated to a resurgence in the " slasher" film , which comes much needed after the dry spell that was 90's horror. Many of the films that we are left with today are mere shadows of what the great stalk and slash films of yester year use to be. Leaving any notion of suspense and fun at the door, most current films seem to be ok with strapping the main characters to a chair and pulling their teeth out systematically. In that land Gutterballs is king.

The film itself is set entirely in a bowling alley as two rival bowling teams compete for the top prize. As often happens with these things a fight breaks out among the opposing teams , causing everyone to kind of go off on their own for sex , sex , and more SEX !!!  Suddenly a new name appears on the screen  BBK , people start disappearing , hairdos are upset , egos are bruised. Could it all have to do with a brutal rape that happened in the very same spot ? Is someone out for revenge ? Me thinks so daddy , me thinks so.

Gutterballs is really a movie that fans of pure 80's slasher films can sink their teeth into. It's as if we have discovers that long sought after big box movie that is impossible to find and filtered it through the lens of a Doris Wishman sleaze epic with all the sex and nudity in tact. Every frame of Ryan Nicholson's film is bathed in neon colors that give it that USA Up All night 80's sleaze vibe that is so mother fucking infectious it nearly rendered me comatose. The directing is very tight and moves along at a crisp gonzo like pace that gives it that " fun " slasher vibe despite some of it's nastier moments , of which it has many.

Gutterballs  is a film that wallows in it's hideously fun gore effects, which are very well done, and delights in showing every nasty detail. The prosthetics and gore effects are kick ass and blow many big studio computer driven films clean out the fucking water. A particular nasty scene involves a very graphic , well pornograhip , " 69" scene that ends with both character getting a " mouthful". Gutterballs is so seedy , so classless and assured of it's lurid sensibilities that it comes across as almost charming to any lover of  "sleaze " cinema. I have always been a huge fan of the rape revenge genre ; combine that with a 80's themed slasher that hits all the right notes in the sleaze department ala Blood Frenzy , Blood Diner , Ect.  You had me a hello.

The cast itself was extremely spot on, spouting out line after line of brutal obscenities  and doing so with wit and conviction. Color me excited. A particular shout out must go to Alastair Gamble as the sadistic preppie leader. Mr. Gamble oozed scumminess out of every scene and was very easy on this little ladies eyes , and finger tips.

Ryan Nicholson's third feature following Torched ( also a rape themed movie, Yum) , Necrophagia : Nightmare Scenarios ( a kick ass rockumentary of sorts), Live Feed (  a sleazy littel torture film) ; is a true sleaze classic in the making. Mr. Nicholson is a true maverick of modern underground cinema and with this feature he proves he is a force to be reckoned with. Don't Fuck With The Mother Fucking BBK, BEOTCH !!!

This gives me MY PURE JOY

While cruising around the Internet late at night , like us ladies of the evening  often do, I came across a new independent movie that got my panties all kinds of wet. The movie is My Pure Joy and is the brainchild  of writer - director James Cullan Bressack.   During a brief chat with him on his face book page MyPureJoyFacebook he revealed to me some of the nasty surprises his film will have in store for all us sick fucks , and it's sure to put a smile on even the most jaded of you fuckers. Below you can lick you lips to a summary of what the director describes as a " cerebral serial killer film " as well as a trailer. Enjoy and look for an interview with James coming soon.

 Call me an ole fashion country girl at heart or a stark raving lunatic , whichever turns your crank. But, I love me some SyFy channel original movies. Now I know they may be terrible as fuck. And some of the special effects wouldn't hold up to your average Atari game system. But, damn it all to hell if I'm not entertained every single time. This Saturday Night at 9/8 Central SyFy is going to unleash upon the world the marvel that is Swamp Shark , add to that mix the fabulous Kristy Swanson. Color me excited. This is just sick and offensive enough to warm my delicate little meat purse y'all. Dahmer VS. Gacy the notorious shocker from Ford Austin is finally available on demand. Oh happy day!! This little film caused quit the commotion when intitally announced from the victims families. Pish Posh. Everyone has to bitch and moan about everything these days , I guess.
